What I liked
I have a child with type 1 diabetes and have been under Kettering General for over 6 years and have always had the utmost support from the diabetes team, whether it be the diabetic nurses, dietician or consultant.I can ring and get support as and when i need it ,either through the diabetic nurses or Dolphin ward if late . Together along with the diabetes team we manage my childs blood sugar levels and if i have any questions i am answered in an understanding manner .All in all I have no complaints.
What could be improved
I have found everything is improving as and when i need it.My child wantsan insulin pump and there has been no hesitation over whether they can have one along with the training and support thats required.I am most satisfied with the help and support offerered to all the diabetic children and family members. The parents need to be open to the advice offerered, and work with the team.
Anything else?
It has been a very difficult journey coping with a diabetic child, but we have had all the support we have needed.
"It has been a difficult but positive experience."
