"unacceptable service provided by accident and..."

About: James Paget University Hospital

What I liked

Once admitted all the staff in the ward 1 worked really hard to look after all the patients.

What could be improved

The accident and emergency center needs to provide a much better service.

Anything else?

My Brother rang the doctor as he suspected he was having a stroke. The doctor sent an ambulance and he was taken to accident and emergency department at the James Paget Hospital early in the morning. He was told they thought he had a migraine despite the family history of stroke. He was told to wait, after 14 hours he was rolling round the floor in pain and staff walked around him. Eventually he was taken to a ward and relatives informed. He suffered an acute stroke which has damaged his sight and left him disabled and dependant on others. The stroke add on the TV says 'Act quick when a stroke strikes'. Treatment in the first three hours is vital, my brother received none. Fourteen hours later when admitted you could not fault the treatment the rushed off their feet staff of ward 1 offered him but by then it was to late the damage was done. The treatment offered in accident and emergency was unacceptable.
