About: Luton & Dunstable Hospital

What I liked

Medical staff in A and E work hard under some pressure

What could be improved

Medical staff in A and E work hard under some pressure but the staff at the reception desk can be aloof and unhelpful. There is no information given about average wait times.

Although I appreciate that inebriated patients are not the responsibility of the hospital it is quite alarming for young patients to have to sit next to drunk and abusive patients while waiting for an unspecified amount of time.

As the parent of a 17 year old, for whom this was her first time visiting the hospital as an "adult" I was really amazed at the fact that, even though she was concussed and tearful and wanted the professionals to talk to her mum, the hospital staff disregarded my presence and gave me no information, and she retained very little herself.

Anything else?

While I recognise the rules of patient confidentiality I feel that younger adults could be given the choice if they want their parent to be included in the information and discussion.
