About: Leicester General Hospital

What I liked

I had a total hysterectomy on Friday 27th April after a 4 month wait but the staff were absolutely lovely from the surgeon, to the anthaetist, to the nurses and the domestic staff. I was very worried about the operation but I was reassured, everything was explained to me and they have done a marvelous job. I was out of hospital within 2 days (much to my husbands horror) but I have been fine. The staff are always under pressure and I know things might not always be perfect but we have an exceptional NHS. There are always things I could comment on or complain about but overall they were great and I am really grateful that I can see light at the end of the tunnel and I am now recovering. Well done to all the lovely staff on Ward 31 at the General.

What could be improved

The only thing that could have been improved was the time periods between medication, just too long sometimes. Also when I was admitted not enough information was given about how long I had to be nil by mouth or what medication I was allowed to take. It seems I was a booklet missing from the assessment day, but no big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Anything else?

You all do a fabulous job under a huge amount of pressure and shrinking resources. Big pat on the back!
