"Good experience"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

What I liked

I had to go into hospital as a day patient in April unfortunately, I needed a bigger operation and needed to stay for 4 days. From the morning that I arrived at the hospital all the departments from the receptionist to the day ward staff, consultant and her team, the recovery unit, all the staff on Cornflower B were excellent.

The consultant & her team were excellent. They came to see me in the morning, went over what was going to happen, asked if I had any questions, told me the time I would be going down. I was then seen again after the op and the doctor explained what had been done and to see how I was and again if I had any questions.

My ward was kept nice and clean all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The student nurses that were looking after me were fantastic and will make excellent nurses. I enjoyed the food and the company of my fellow patients. Overall it was a pleasant experience for me as I really don't like hospitals. It was nice to see that most of the doctors who did the daily rounds did have a sense of humour and spoke to me as a person. I like the visiting hours that are now in place 10.30-7.30 which enabled visitors to stagger their visit rather than cram into a couple of hours. However busy the staff were they always made time for you and always had a smile on their faces.

Thank y

What could be improved

Car parking. There is just not enough spaces. Too much congestion trying to drive into the hospital traffic can be backed up passed the traffic lights.
