"Could do better!"

About: Alnwick Infirmary

What could be improved

One of our regular guests a 55 yr old woman, attended A&E as a result of advice from us. She had fallen from a galloping horse onto her back and was unable to walk. She was suffering from severe pain in her pelvic region and it would appear that she may have suffered a fracture.

We informed her that there was an Xray facility at the local hospital where she would probably be given an Xray and the damage determined.

She was seen by a doctor who was very empathetic but did not refer her to Xray. She was informed that it was unlikely that she had broken anything.

The following week she attended her local hospital and it was discovered that she had suffered two fractures of her right PUBIS RAMI positioned at 6 oclock and 11 oclock radiating towards the hip joint. I would be concerned about recommending the local hospital to any guests encountering a similar incident in the future.

Anything else?
