"Fantastic service, so pleased its not being moved..."

About: George Eliot Hospital - Acute Services

What I liked

I was given complete control over my birth plan and was respected and supported by all the staff that I came into contact with. And when my labour encountered difficulties they were able to treat myself and baby with the upmost care and ensure the best outcomes for both of us, with my wishes still taken into consideration. I was offered a bath and a birthing ball straight away when I arrived, which I have heard not an awful lot of hospitals do. I was very much encouraged to keep to my plan of wanting an active labour, again which I have heard many hospitals don't.

My 2 birth partners were also taken care of extremely well by all the staff, the staff understood that it was a difficult time for them as much as it was for myself. They provided information and reassurance that made both partners time easier during my labour.

I stayed one night and baby was restless and keeping the ward I was on awake, the midwives offered to take her to the nursery so that we could all get some much needed sleep. I thought this was fantastic. I woke up more refreshed and able to deal with recovering and providing my own care for my baby, because I had been allowed that rest.
