My son had a serious accident on Sunday afternoon. We were taken by ambulance to Princess Alexandria Hospital and he was discharged on Thursday evening. He had a serious head injury and obviously myself and my family were beside ourselves with worry.

From the moment we got to the hospital until the moment we were discharged I can honestly say that we received first class care and attention, not just my son but myself and my wife as well. From the porters and cleaners, from the catering staff right up to the nurses, surgeons and consultants not once did we feel we had been given anything less than 100% of the best they could do for us.

Yes there was long waits, but after a day or so of watching what was going on I realised that the people were doing the best they can do. I have attended A&E a few times over the years and I have seen that it has steadily improved.

All of the staff on Dolphin ward, every single one of them were superb. In the few days we were there we watched children come in with acute illnesses and accidents and within a day or so you could see the miracles they were working in there.

Yes sometimes what we wanted was not immediately available, such as a wheelchair to get my son up and about for the first time on Wednesday, but the second one became available he got it. They are working to the highest standard that can be achieved with the resources available.

I can see how people think that they might have missed out on some care or were badly treated because when you are watching a relative in distress nothing is ever going to be good enough however its not the hospitals fault that you are ill they are just doing the best they can to fix you up. Maybe sometimes things cant be fixed.

The hospital medically saved my sons life for that I will always be eternally grateful to all the staff that were part of that.
