"Acute Mental Health Services in Stoke on Trent"

About: North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust / Adult mental health North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust / Inpatient mental health care

(as the patient),

I experienced good and bad treatment at the hands of some nursing and care staff on Ward 3 of the Harplands Hospital, Hilton Road, Stoke-on-Trent.

Four staff behaved correctly and helpfully throughout my stay.

A number of other staff were doing their best in very difficult circumstances.

Some other staff, both staff nurses and health care workers, seemed set on making life as difficult as possible for in-patients, or at least behaving in such a way as to intimidate and suppress patients' well-being.

Can I thank you for taking the time to provide us with some of your experiences whilst on Ward 3. We will ensure the positive comments you have made are feedback to staff. However it would be useful to follow up with you some of the comments which were not so positive and explore these in more detail to see how we can ensure services are further improved. You can do this by contacting;

Emma Ball, Ward Manager on 01782 441703 who will be happy to meet with you. Alternatively please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison (PALS) Team on 0800 389 9676 (free phone) or via email PatientExperienceTeam@northstaffs.nhs.uk and a member of the PALS team will arrange to meet with you at your convenience to discuss your issues in more detail.

With kind regards

Jane Clement
