What I liked

i was addmitted to the hospital on christmas day 2010. I had to have emergency surgery I was pleased with the care that was given to me at that time.Although i spent Christmas and New Year in hospital it was stressfull for me being apart from family members and was upset by this.Although the care of some of the staff was Kind others were not.The Consultant was excellant and very informative. The food that we received for the 3 -4 wks were very poor it was the same menue throughout and options very poor.Some patients were poorly then others but it did not feel very festive and i would have thought a christmas lunch would have made it a bit special for those that could have eaten.I could not walk unaided at this time so going to the toilet had to be attended by members of staff although there was only a skelton staff the ward was not exceptional busy so i would have thought this could of been delt with more. My Consultant said the mobilty was the uppmost but i felt i could not ask for assistant as i felt i was being difficult and the nurses did have others to attend to although i wasn't told this so walking up the ward had to be made by my Husband when he came at visting times which was limited..

What could be improved

More staff on and a better food choice

i did feel sometimes that dignity was not shown by some members of staff but over all the care that was given was very good

Thank you for yoru feedback about your experience at NHNN. I am glad that overall you consider the care you received to be very good however I am sorry that some elements of the service were disappointing. I have shared your commenst with the catering team and the senior nurses so that we can aim to improve in the future.
