"Respectful service at at The Ayr Hospital"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Urology

(as the patient),

I recently got confirmation of an appointment at The Ayr Hospital for the Department that deals with Men's Continence. Unfortunately, the appointment was scheduled for a day and time that clashed with my Volunteer duties elsewhere. I called the Hospital number given and was greeted by a (youngish sounding) female voice. This Lady handled my call with great delicacy and respect. She checked the schedule of the Specialist Sister responsible for the procedure but was unable to fit me in later that day. She has promised to reschedule me for a different day and would send out the new appointment.

This young Lady demonstrated not just skill and ability in her job but, most importantly, she was very understanding and respectful in dealing with this ageing - and slightly embarrassed - man. Many thanks The Ayr Hospital, NHS Ayrshire & Arran and the young Lady in question.

Thank you so much for your kind comments.

We in the continence team always strive to give individualised patient care , however we realise given the embarrassing nature of continence issues that we also need to be sensitive to patients needs. It is gratifying to know that your experience has been a positive one.

Thank you again for posting your comments.
