"Horrific"

What I liked

During a horrific 48 hour labour I encountered 2 lovely midwives out of the 5 I had looking after me during this time.

What could be improved

Everything. The staff (with the exception of 2 midwives) are just awful, they dont seem to have any empathy for women in labour or new mothers, even though this is a time in life that you probably need the most support.

The Doctor assigned to me barely spoke to me at all, chosing instead to converse only with the midwife.

I was also encouraged to have an epidural when they decided to give me a hormone drip, I wasn't given the option to try it without and they failed to tell me that having an epidural drastically increases your chances of having to have an assisted delivery.

I wasn't even lucky enough to have an assisted delivery as the aneasthetist decided to remove my epidural in favour of a spinal block which he didn't perform successfully, therefore rendering me unable to birth any way other than c-section under general anaesthetic.

My husband wasn't allowed in the room and I was unconscious for the birth of my daughter. I may also add that at no point during my labour did my daughter's heart rate drop so she was in no immediate danger.

The post-natal ward was just as bad if not worse, being made to feel like a pain in the neck when you buzz for help from a midwife.

All in all my experience was horrific and I would strongly advise anyone against delivering here.

Anything else?

I complained to the Trust Board and received a completely unacceptable condescending response, making me feel like the complaint had been completey over-looked and ignored.
