"Orthopaedic Day Surgery Patient "

About: Western Infirmary/Gartnavel General / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Having been very lucky and never having the need to use the NHS before and having heard so many negative stories ,I was very nervous before visiting Gartnavel Royal Hospital for Pre -operating assessment and then the Operating Theatre for a Hip procedure !

I needn't have worried , the organisation and care was superb starting with the Pre-Operation assessment team led by Anne Devenney ,Ward Sister and her team in Room 19 . The main ward run by Dorothy Walker and her team was organised like clockwork and the communication with the patients excellent . As regards the Operating Theatre the facilities and attention were first class and the manner and experience of my Surgeon Mr Jason Roberts , his assistant Andrew were totally reassuring .

I was humbled by the effort and dedication of all the NHS involved. There should be no fear from any patients as far as I am concerned and as regards everyone mentioned at Gartnavel Royal our NHS is in very safe hands ! Many Thanks .
