"No funds for required medication"

where do I start.

My brother-in-law picked up my nephew from hospital early afternoon and was told one of his drugs was not going to be funded and couldnt have it. So I phoned found out it was the one for his bowel and suggested nicely at first that if they were refusing to fund his medication then we would have to return him to the hospital so as he could continue with his medication. An hour later they returned to the hospital where they sat for five hours until eventually it got sorted out and my nephew could come home with all of his medications.

It took God knows how many phone calls bur perseverance was the key.

Anyway we got enough for two weeks and then we no idea where the next ones are coming from. We been told it's the PCT who funds it, then the doctors, then the specialist so we need to do more calls tomo.

Apparently at first we were told it was too expensive for PCT to fund, then we were told it was our doctors had told the pharmasist at the hospital it wasnt to be funded, then we were told it was a new drug and he had never been prescribed it (he has been taking it for three weeks in hospital), then we were told it wasnt due to the cost it was another reason, I was then asked by my own doctor was it a licensed or unlicensed drug (how do I know) as if it is unlicensed the specialist has to pay but if not the doctor. I dont care who funds it so long as we can have a less stressful life.

By now I was totally losing the plot. xx the main thing he is home still in a lot of pain but definitely slowly improving
