"keyhole lumbar decompression at Thornbury"

About: Thornbury Hospital (Sheffield)

(as the patient),

After MRI i was offered an appointment with Mr Abinhay Kamat at BMI Lincoln who offered keyhole surgery to alleviate the problem of nerve compression and to improve my mobility and ease the pain. The surgery was performed in January 2012 at BMI Thornbury where I was treated with great respect and kept informed of the procedure that would follow.

After visits by the anaesthetist and the surgeon I had surgery later that afternoon. The results were amazing and within 24 hours I was discharged. Mr Kamat visited me before I was discharged and explained that he had done as much as he could by keyhole and that I would see considerable improvement over a period. He again treated me with great respect and I thanked him for his professionalism

After discharge and over the next 6 weeks I had little or no problem either with mobility or pain and when I saw Mr Kamat for follow up he was happy to discharge me.

Since that period I have continued to make an ongoing recovery and can now walk some three miles and climb stairs easily. I am delighted with the outcome and cannot fault the care that I have received both pre and post op,
