"Excellent standards, excellent staff and extremely..."

About: Chorley & South Ribble Hospital

What I liked

I had a hip replacement operation on 8th March 2012, the surgeon and their team were extremely reassuring and caring. I have problems with allergies to medications I was listened to and able to ensure that I would not be given anything to make my experience unpleasant or dangerous!! I was very nervous (in fact terrified) of the procedure but the anaesthetist and their assistant reassured and calmed me to the point where I can actually remember very little of the procedure even though I was awake for all of it !!

I have healed well, my scar, although large is very neat. I left the hospital on my third day post Operation, I continue to improve daily and look forward to being able to walk well and without pain very shortly.

The nursing staff were kind and helpful throughout my stay and the ward was very clean as indeed was the whole hospital. I must give a special thanks to a member of staff on the night shift. He was one of the kindest gentlemen that I have ever been nursed by.

All in all I would recommend Chorley Hospital to everyone, lovely place lovely staff.

What could be improved

Only blip was the food!! It is nothing to do with cost!! A child of 8 would be able to prepare a plain jacket potato!! Chorley catering staff obviously had not attained that standard, fortunately I was not in there long enough to die of starvation!!

Anything else?

I feel terrible for making the comment about the food because it really spoils all the good things that I have said!! but something really needs to be addressed with regard to it !
