What I liked
I visited the day surgery unit to have plates and wires inserted in my right wrist following a very bad fracture. From the moment I checked in at the reception until I was escorted to the lifts to leave, I was treated with great kindness and respect. I very much liked the friendliness of all of the staff and their interest in me as a person, not just as a patient. The anaesthetists explained their procedures to me and even showed me on my good arm via the ultrasound how they do the nerve block. I was kept informed at all times about the procedure and what to expect. When I was in recovery the nurses were really lovely and I found this very reassuring. I have not been in hospital as a patient since I was born, 51 years ago. What I feared would be a very daunting experience was actually a very interesting one and also one that made me appreciate the fantastic work that the NHS and all of its staff do every day.
What could be improved
I honestly can't think of anything that that could be improved.
Anything else?
Every time I visited the hospital I felt very reassured. I knew that the people I saw were very professional and very caring. I knew that I was in very good hands at every stage.
"A brilliant team of people who helped me at a time..."
