"I need a proper assessment"

About: Broadgreen Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics Merseyside

(as the patient),

I have mobility problems caused by osteoarthritis in my ankles.

I was referred to a podiatrist by physios, who was helpful, but I had not ever seen a doctor about the problem. I requested a referral to see someone about this and was sent to the ankle assessment unit, to be seen by a physio.

No x-rays were taken or referred to, so I was disgusted that simply looking from a distance enabled a physio to pass judgement on what treatment I should receive.

I have days I cannot walk if the day previously has involved walking or standing for any length of time, yet my treatment can be decided by someone less qualified than the GP who referred me for assessment in the first place.

Update posted by wild rabbit (the patient)

The fact that Broadgreen can't be bothered to respond to people makes me think in fact a patient is just a statistic to them. I still have problems, havent had the shoe inserts replaced, despite the fact they didn't fit any of my shoes and were no good and was discharged. Nobody has fixed my problem and it seems pointless speaking to a doctor about it as no one seems willing to listen.
