"I thoroughly recommend the Royal Free - they were..."

About: Royal Free Hospital

What I liked

Very speedy response once I arrived in a&e (on foot)

Thorough check over & immediate pain relief given

Spoke to gynaecology dept and got my notes very quickly enabling the right treatment to be given

Efficient admission process & transfer to ward

What could be improved

The first stage of a&e - waiting to see a doctor to be assessed - even if you are in acute pain you still have to wait your turn. There were 5 people in front of me and I had to wait. On previous occasions, someone has been decent enough to let me go in front of them but not on this occasion. Once seen by the doctor you then have to check in at the a&e reception. When I got there I was in so much pain I practically collapsed and they took me straight into the a&e ward. If you come in by ambulance you get treated straightaway on the ward but I don't want to waste NHS resources, if I am able to come in by taxi or with a friend then I will but you don't get treated straightaway, you have to wait.
