"Too-fast discharge from maternity unit at King's"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill) / Maternity

(as a relative),

My sister-in-law was discharged from King's within 12 hours of having her first baby. The room they were in was stripped down while they were still there. She had to be re-admitted a week later because of feeding problems. Taking the time to initiate breast-feeding my have prevented this.

I am sorry to hear that a first time mother was discharged 12 hours after delivery her baby without being given the opportunity to breast feed with the support of specialist infant feeding staff.

Your comments will be passed on to the relevant midwives and infant feeding coordinators to reflect on their discharge criteria.
