"MRSA septicaemia and C.Diff. at University Hospital of Wales"

Swabs were clear before went for operation.

Had a spine and foot operation at Llandough. Caught MRSA on my skin and wounds.

Went to UHW and MRSA got into my blood possibly through central line / femoral line.

I then caught C.dIff. at the same time.

Lots of things were noted.

I was barrier nursing because of MRSA and c diff, but nurses and all staff such as cleaners, caters, did not barrier nurse. Infection controll were called many times, and told the ward staff what needed doing. The day the infection control team came up things improved. But the next day it was all back to the same and they weren't barrier nursing even though was suppose to be. Infection control called again. Same happened.

Care of central / femoral line - the nurses were told how to look after it, and it had to be cleaned the end of it when opening the valve. They did not do this, and I had to tell them, and still didn't do it.

When I was in 4 bed ward and also 9 bed ward, cleaner used same cloth to wipe my table and property down as with all others in room. (even though I was barrier nursing)

Caterer no gel / wash hands or gloves and took my plate/food/tray etc and touched everyone elses. (again I was barrier nursing)

Thought the communication terrible. When I changed wards. The new staff didn't even know I had MRSA septicaemia and that I was barrier nursing!
