What I liked
I attended Basildon Hospital Cardiothoracic Centre on the 18th January 2012 to have an aortic valve replacement (AVR). I was discharged following surgery on the 23rd January. I would like to especially thank the Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon and the doctor and all of the theatre staff, critical care staff and nurses and auxiliary staff on Chelmer ward who cared for me in such a splendid way.
I am now on the way to making a full recovery.
The Cardithoracic Center is a center of excellence and I can recommend it without hesitation
What could be improved
In my case there was nothing that needs comment here. I was treated very well and all my needs were catered for. The building is self contained, so all of the patients various treatments can be managed in the one building, without having to leave the cardiothoracic unit. The visiting times for guests are well managed and flexible.
The food was nutricious and there was a good choice.
Anything else?
I felt I was looked after by a team of professionals who cared for me as an individual.
