About: St Albans City Hospital

What I liked

I have been dealing with the recent death of my father and when I visited the Breast Clinic yesterday, I didn't realise the affect of returning to a hospital environment would have on me. It reduced me to tears. Although I was trying my utmost to hide this embarassing situation, it was immediately noticed by a nurse (didn't get the chance to get her name), who took me to a quiet area and gave me a much needed hug, sat me down and gave me time to get my self composed and to explain why I was upset - wonderful human being and nurse and during my father's hospital stay (not St Albans) between Aug 11 and Feb 12, these 'real' and dedicated nurses can be counted on one hand. The whole team are a credit to the nursing profession,

thank you all for making such an ordeal so easy.... keep up the great work.

What could be improved

Thanks ever so much for taking the time to add your comments to our NHS Choices page. Considering your understandable anxiety in returning to a hospital environment, we're pleased to hear our nursing staff were so proactive in looking after you, allowing you to come away with such a positive and reassured impression.

Your comments have of course been passed onto the Breast Clinic team, who were delighted to receive them.
