"Standard of care Solihull hospital"

About: Solihull Hospital / General surgery

(as a relative),

My Auntie was in Solihull hospital after having a hip replacement.

We felt that the night staff caring for her were not good at all. She was left alone for 3 hours with a bedpan and no help cleaning. She was told by a member of staff to ring the bell when finished yet the button was on the other side of the bed and after only having her operation the day before she was in no state to reach the button.

Then as her 85 year old husband left after visit a nurse told her she could go home. She had no way of contacting anyone to collect her and was in a state of panic. She asked if she could stay one more night and they told her no.

She was left to pack herself with no help at all! She was given many medication and needles to inject by herself without a member of staff showing her the correct way. It was only for the staff nurse that things were sorted.
