What I liked
Physiotherapy staff fantastic - very motivating and definitely key to my earlier than anticipated discharge, food delicious (and big portions too!), Drs and anaesthetist fantastic - explained at length their roles in my op in a kind, caring and light hearted way that put me at ease instantly.....I even bumped into the anaesthetist as I was discharged from hospital and he recognised me, knew my name and wished me the best for the future - considering I hadn't seen him for 4 days this genuine thoughtfulness is just one example of the high standard of care you can expect from EGH. Nursing staff responded to buzzers quickly and made you feel like you were the only patient on the ward.
What could be improved
My first night I was informed that I should have been assisted to turn every two hours - this didn't happen and I'm surprised that after a 6 hour surgery that my observations were only taken once during the first night, luckily I didn't have any problems and I was able to call staff myself, others might not have been able to. All other nights nursing care was fantastic so only a small issue when taking into account all the other care I received!
"Fantastic care, physiotherapy staff exceptional"
