What I liked
There is nothing to like about the peadiatric diabetes service it is just sadly poor.
What could be improved
The list is endless the peadiatric diabetes team needs a complete change of their services
Listen to the parent.
Stop the parent/child blame culture
Teach all parents and children to carb count.
Stop the fixation of lumpy sites.
Embrace new technologies such as insulin pumps and stop making ridiculous excuses why children can't have them
More psychology access
Staff need to update knowledge and move forward
A method to test hba1c at the clinic appointment
Consultant not to patronise
Anything else?
My only advice is leave this service , there is far better care out there. It's unbelievable that ngh can offer better advice and support but only be a few miles apart.
However Northamptonshire compared to other services around the country remains behind.
"poor, so glad we left !"
