"Scan results not getting through to my GP"

About: Colchester General Hospital North East Essex PCT

(as the patient),

I attended Colchester general hospital at the beginning of September 2011 to have a MRI scan it was not until 3 months later the results eventually reached my doctor which was very sketchy.

Then Mid March I requested the full results they arrived by fax to my doctors surgery, only to find the scan showed I had developed a Bursa (of which I had a operation to remove 2 years earlier) and also it showed I had an ovarian cyst. Had I not requested this report it seems I would never had known.

Surely it would be good practice for information to ALWAYS reach the doctors within a smaller time frame for the doctor to discuss the results of a MRI scan bearing in mind its not exactly the best experience to go through and I think patients have a right to know.

6 months is unacceptable.
