What could be improved

After arriving at the hospital A&E at 11am, my 18 year old grandaughter who had been unable to urinate for a couple of days, was cathertered and then taken to acute assessment at 3pm to wait to be seen by a doctor. At 9.30pm, my daughter asked a passing nurse if she had any idea how long the doctor would be, and after a couple of minutes the ward sister arrived to tell them that the consultant had gone home at 8pm! The sister had come on night duty soon before but wasn't even aware that my grandaughter was there. I'd have thought it was standard procedure that day staff informed night staff of patients that were actually there, and that a doctor would have a list of patients needing attention. It seems to me that the staff at Queens are quite proud of their notorious reputation for lack of professionalism, otherwise after all the negative press they've recieved, you would think they would have made a greater effort to improve things.

My elderly mother in law has been receiving wonderful treatment for breast cancer at Guys Hospital for a year, and the contrast between the two hospitals is unbelievable.

Anything else?
