What could be improved
It was actually my mother who was admitted. She was admitted on Monday 5 march, she has dementia and parkinsons. My mother is unable to do anything for herself. When I visited on Tuesday 6 march, Her food was just left in front of her and when I asked the staff if anybody was going to feed her I was met with rudeness. I was unable to feed her as I had to go to work. My sister visited on the same evening, when she arrived my mothers supper had again been left in front of her cold. This is after we explained to staff she was unable to feed herself. My sister asked why the supper had been left and was told it was because the staff were to busy to tend to her. There is no excuse for neglect or abuse. My mother was denied basic care, she was also left soaking wet. When she was discharged, the care home she lives in was told she would be discharged at 4.30pm, she was eventually discharged at 7.45 pm. My mother was so hungry that the staff at the home could actually hear her food travelling through her system. My mother was also severely dehydrated. This is the second time she has been treated in this way at Ipswich Hospital
