"horrified and never again"

About: Warrington Hospital

Anything else?

i had a gastroscopy recently and i was horrified by the procedure. I asked for sedation but it did not seem to work, i could feel the tube being pushed down my throat i remember struggling and pulling because i thought i was going to choke and the feeling of somebody holding me down. I would never have this again i was so frightened.

Thank you for leaving your comments. Gastroscopies are not the most pleasant procedure and the sedation aims to help relax the muscles so that it can be carried out as quickly and as comfortably as possible. Unfortunately, it will not completely take away the feeling of the procedure which because of its nature feels unatural. I hope that the experience wasn't too upsetting and that it has helped provide the diagnosis that it was booked for.
