"I impressed overall and would choose this Centre..."

About: Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre

What I liked

It was local and easy to get to. The overall impression of the facility was of a modern, well kept treatment Centre. Unlike Derriford Main Hospital there was a sense of order and cleanliness. The staff clearly knew what they were doing and demonstated care for me as the patient throughout.

I was kept informed about the elements of the procedure and I was particularly impressed that each member of the team in the Theatre took took the trouble to introduce themselves and their role. As someone who did not want to know what the surgeon is actually doing (let alone watch the process) I was grateful for the distraction and conversation provided by the very nice 'nurse'.

What could be improved

I arrived at 12.00 as requested, but did not go into the Theatre until just after 16.00. I recognise that mine was a relatively straightforward procedure and that it was reasonable to leave me until the end (or at least, very near the end). However I found that waiting in my allocated cubical with only a locker and standard upright chair somewhat uncomfortable (I had a book with me as well as my IPad but these only helped, as a distraction, to a limited extent).

It would have been nicer if there were an area available with a more comfortable chair and possibly even a TV, drink machine.
