What I liked
I visited the Maternity Assessment Care Unit as I had had some pregnancy bleeding, and needed an injection because of my blood group.
From the initial phone call to the greeting when I got there, everything was fantastic at such a worrying time.
I was admitted to the Ante-natal ward for 24 hours to be observed, and each time shift changeover happened I felt uncomfortable that someone I had got used to was leaving, and that the next person couldn't be as good as the person I'd just had but all the midwives were amazing, and genuinely cared about making sure I was comfortable, reassured and felt able to ask questions, as well as doing their jobs, all complete naturals at making anyone feel comfortable.
I'd had an emotional afternoon, due to some information being perhaps not put as tactfully as it might have been by a doctor, but the midwife listened to me, recognised a need to have the situation explained properly by another doctor, and had briefed the doctor before their ward round so they could reassure me that actually the info I had been given wasn't necessarily the case and took great pains to put it into terms I would understand.
What could be improved
Not a lot. I understand that mistakes are sometimes made, and the positives far outweighed the negatives.
Anything else?
Feel very reassured that I've chosen the correct hospital to have baby no2 in.
"Horrible time, but made easier by the fact that I..."
