"I had a torrid time which left me feeling stressed..."

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

What I liked

Nothing.

What could be improved

THE WARD

Upon admittance to the ward, I was told to occupy a bed in a ward full of elderly patients most of whom were distressed and confused. One of the patients kept getting out of bed and started to wander around. The nurses seemed unable or unwilling to do anything to address their care needs. These people should have been in geriatric ward where their needs could have been properly addressed. I refused to take my bed place. As a result I was moved to a side room with no television. I was treated as a troublemaker for the rest of my stay and ignored by the nursing staff. It was as if I was being punished just because I was sticking up for myself. Appalling!

NURSING CARE

There was no proper nursing care provided at all, unless you count the twice daily visit to check my records.

The interaction by the nurses was nil to negligible. The care element was provided by the HCA's only. I was treated as a bed blocker, because I refused to go home with an in line drip to treat my infection which was acquired in another hospital following lung surgery.

When I asked the doctors what the implications would be if the line got blocked, I did not receive a reply despite repeating this question on a number of occasions to different doctors. I now know it's because it could have had fatal consequences. Where is the openness and honesty?

Anything else?

Hospital care in the 21st century at this hospitable is nothing short of disgusting despite record levels of government spending. You should be ashamed of the levels of care you provide to your inpatients!
