Last night, a picture in a heavy wooden frame fell off the wall and hit my daughter in the forehead, giving her a cut.
We called NHS Direct and the very helpful person gave us good advice on attending the A&E at Royal London. Once inside the A&E, we were efficiently processed and directed to a very good paediatric A&E waiting area, where we were promptly evaluated by a nurse.
We then waited briefly in a clean, cheerful, well-appointed waiting room with good toys and books and a video, until a really caring doctor saw us and efficiently and patiently assessed my daughter (who is four) and gave her glue stitches. The doctor patiently listened to my questions and gave us helpful info-sheets for both the stitches and the head injury.
My daughter wanted to stay at the hospital and "play with the doctor" and the toys after we were through. Today she is good as gold, and very proud of her "Harry Potter scar".
