"as good as it gets!"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

What I liked

I visited the main outpatients department after having surgery 4 weeks prior and after not feeling too good was given an urgent appointment to see my consultant after speaking to his secretary after my GP had contacted them I have had direct contact with her previously has I have been visiting Preston for the past 2 years and she as been amazingly thoughtful and caring even making sure I was able to get to the appointment okay because I was travelling from Carlisle. arriving at the appointments desk I was really impressed with the young girl who was very thorough in making sure all my personal information was correct even checking the stickers in the back of my notes were the same address as I had just given her (this is crucial as in the past at another hospital after changing my address nobody had taken my old stickers from my notes and this caused a great deal of problems as correspondence was sent to my previous address), she was also very helpful in giving me directions to where I needed to be has on previous visits my appointments had always been on ward 2b

On arrival at the clinic it was so very busy but the nurse dealing with my particular clinic was well the only way I could describe her is 'amazing' she was very cheery explained that the consultant had been held up and the clinic was running 30 mins. late and how sorry she was and while waiting to be called she was constantly been approached by people giving stupid excuses has to how they should be the first to be seen, it amazes me to how patients complain about the stupidest things I was sitting there in a great deal of pain but understood that the nurses and doctors are dealing with human beings and so naturally things are not always going to fit into the time slot that they have been given and at least when I was seen the care I was given was second to none by the consultant and other departments I was sent to for investigations, thank you.

What could be improved

Absolutely nothing!

Anything else?

I have also had 2 previous stays on ward 2b where I have had surgery and although the staff there are under a great deal of pressure the care I received there was also brilliant nothing was ever too much trouble and the time they spend giving you the answers to any questions I had about my surgery fills you with confidence as they knew what they were talking about and understand that a patient has the right to ask questions. thanks to you all.
