What I liked

my husband received quadruple by-pass surgery. it was a very frightening time for us and the staff at the Heart and Lung Centre were fantastic in terms of their professionalism and care. they were totally competent and gave all the time that was needed to explain the procedure, and to reassure both of us, before and after the surgery. the stay in the critical care unit was turned into a managed period of extra care rather than a scarey crisis. we felt very safe in their hands and the operation was successful, with high level monitoring afterwards. i would highly recommend New Cross to anyone who wants the highest possible standard of care from nursing and medical staff.

What could be improved

hours after returning to the ward from critical care, a volunteer came round with a lengthy one to one survey, taking up 15 minutes of a precious visiting time which had required a 2 hour journey.
