"No examination following a high speed RTC was..."

About: Fairfield General Hospital

What could be improved

I would appreciated a thorough examination.

I would appreciate a response to this communication.

Anything else?

6 days ago I was the driver in a high speed head on collision with another vehicle, both 4x4s. The impact was so severe that the vehicles are likely to be written off.

The most obvious visible injury I suffered was to my right ankle that had been placed in a splint by the ambulance crew before they took me to Fairfield A & E.

I was put into a cubicle when a nurse took my blood pressure. Some time later a doctor stood at the entrance to the cubical and asked what had happened, he then sent for a porter to take me for an xray to my foot. Over an hour later I was taken for an xray and brought back to the A & E cubicle. A nurse came to me and said the foot wasn't broken and she bandaged it. The nurse then wheeled me to the exit with, provided a prescription for 3 days supply of ibuprofen and left me to be taken home.

The nurse said I could remove her bandage in 3 days.

At no point was any examination undertaken.

I have severe bruising to both feet and my abdomen. I am having a lot headaches, severe neck and sholder pain and I fear something serious has not been discovered as a result of the lack of examination at A & E.
