About: Royal Derby Hospital

What I liked

The hospital was clean and tidy brightly coloured and warm

What could be improved

The staff were dismissive uncommunicative and intollerant. a little positive communication and keeping family and next of kin informed about treatment and discharge matters would have been good. Instead of removal via social services to unblock a bed.

Anything else?

In every other service including the Housing service I work in its all about what the customer wants and listening to the customer to improve the service. However in the NHS its all about turn round people are just numbers and treat like animals. Its about time things changed and patients where treat with dignity and resect as people, Its time staff cared about the patients and stopped looking for the fastest way to discharge a patient to make way for another patient.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that your recent experience of our hospital was not as good as it could have been. At Derby Hospitals our aim is to ‘Take Pride in Caring’, yet we understand that there may be areas for improvement.

We would like to look into some of the concerns you have raised, regarding communication and discharge. Could you please contact our PALS team on Freephone 0800 7837691or email pals@derbyhospitals.nhs.uk, so we can find out a few more details and look in to this matter further.

J.Roberts, Communications.
