What I liked
My son was treated on ward 22 and all of the staff involved were friendly and welcoming. There was one person who deserved special mention and this was the ward house keeper who was on duty. This person displayed a devotion to their job which restored my faith in the NHS. They always had time to offer a supportive chat and went beyond what could be expected to provide what ever would tempt my son to eat. They also made an excellent cup of coffee and had a knack of appearing with one just at the right moment. The ward house keeper displayed the true caring side of the NHS and is an invaluable member of an over all excellent team. The ward was obviosly very busy but non of the staff ever gave the impression of not having enough time to talk or provide anything less then a superb standard of care.
Anything else?
My sons consultant, provided an excellent service and showed a genuine interest in all aspect of his care. They attended the ward regularly and involved both my son and myself in decision making and explained clearly all that was about to happen. We both felt involved and enpowered and were left with a very clear insight into his treatment.
"Ward 22 provides a supportive and caring..."
