The OOH Service was originally 3 separate services. Kettering & Northampton joined forces & ran what I felt was a bad service for many years.
Daventry & South Northants were run as a separate entity known until April 2009 as SNOWDOC - in my opinion it was the BEST, Doctors that cared, Staff that helped & Drivers that knew the area & had the knowledge & training to assist the visiting duty doctor if an emergency situation happened.
They all joined forces ran by a GP consortium, I feel that Daventry then became as poor as Kettering & Northampton then Corby area joined.
From what I can deduce, the Doctor Directors over spent the budget & left the then PCT in dire straits, thus the plug was pulled & the OOH Service has gone to SOUTHERN CROSS.
The service, in my opinion, is still poor.
