"Totally unprofessional treatment. Wouldn't send..."

About: The Whittington Hospital

What I liked

Some of the A&E doctors I saw prior to being admitted to the Women's Diagnostic ward seemed to be quite professional. Unfortunately I never saw one doctor for more than a few minutes. Every time I saw a doctor who seemed competent they were quickly replaced by one who was incompetent and didn't seem to know what they were doing.

What could be improved

The nurses on the Betty Monsell ward were rude, incompetent and seemed to not have actually been trained as nurses. From the second of arriving on the ward it was chaos. My chart was misplaced and a nurse told me she wasn't going to write down my high blood pressure, claiming that "that's too high. I can't write that down". Another nurse refused to give me pain medication after three hours of complaining. I also was never seen by an actual consultant or doctor despite asking for help for my high blood pressure. I finally discharged myself at 4:00 am as I felt that I was about to pass out from my high blood pressure that was registering at 195/110.

Worst experience of my life. I ended up taking a mini cab home and calling for an ambulance to take me to UCH where I was treated like a human in need instead of a distraction.

Anything else?

Although I was not on the ward for a female issue, many of the patients were. Throughout the evening several men were on the ward who weren't even wearing identification or uniforms. They seemed to be maintenance men looking at women's private parts without any privacy. The men on the ward seemed to be leering thoughout the night. I felt very unsafe as it was so unprofessional and disordered.
