"Operation for severe back pain"

About: Thornbury Hospital (Sheffield)

(as a carer),

My wife developed back pain in April 2011 this slowly got worse until she could bear it no more. She went to her GP who sent her for an MRI scan which revealed that her spinal fluid was trapped near the bottom of her spine.

She was referred to see Mr Abhinay Kamat at the One Health hospital in Lincoln who informed us this condition would not get better on it's own, it would only get worse, so she would require an operation to correct this.

This took place at the Thornbury hospital in Sheffield at the end of 2011. She was an inpatient for three days, returnig home on the Friday of the same week.

We have just been for her 6 week check up with Mr A Kamat who was very pleased with her progress and told us he will need to see her twice more before she will be discharged. This will happen in June and December of this year.
