"Uncomfortable."

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

What I liked

The food was much better then expected and there was a good choice for different diets.

One nurse in particular took a personal interest and helped me with advice and comfort as well as offering me tea and toady as I had been being sick all night and hadn't eaten.

What could be improved

Privacy - you were not asked if you wanted your curtains to be drawn forcing you to be on show to the rest of the ward.

Cleanliness - in A+E I was left for a long time due to it being a Friday night. I reached for a bowl to be sick and it had blood (not mine) in it.

Professionalism - sone of the nurses computers were on the ward. The nurses talked loudly about their co-workers and other patients amongst themselves during handover which was rude and unprofessional.

Care - I was treated with disregard due to the nature of my illness especially by paramedics and nurses in A+E. I was not offered help to clean myself which was fine because I could get to the toilet but not good for other patients who could not. I observed and elderly patient being treated with disregard and lack of understanding by nurses due to her confusion and lack of ability. When being discharged I wasn't given any advice or final check up.

Results - the results of varies blood tests were not discussed with me.

Anything else?

My overall stay was an uncomfortable experience and I was unimpressed by most of the staffs attitudes and patient interaction.
