"Things have changed-my recovery"

About: Guernsey House / Primary care addiction service Sheffield (PCASS)

(as a service user),

I have been coming here for 5 years, I used to come every 8 weeks and I have noticed a change in the last six months which is a good thing I am now seen every 4 weeks. I am coming down on methadone and had a problem with my script that was quickly and easily sorted out-and that’s because they are more in touch and taking more direct care of me.

It then helps me to be more focused cos I am not just coming down and stuck in a rut, I am more in touch with whats going on and what I am doing. I liked the way they came to the house to do the detox and the Dr was very helpful with a good plan what to do. He broke it down well, I was going on a home detox which was better than letting people linger on methadone its more directive and pushing you out of treatment, which should be the point, people should want to get off.

If you are struggling with the d tox at home they sent people with tiazepam this really helped and was good support which really helped me. That showed how they had come on.

One thing does annoy me if you have a dr you should stay with that dr who gets to know you. If you miss an appointment you often get changed and the new dr doesn’t know who I am in the same way.
