What I liked
My baby girl was very ill when visiting family so we went to Lister rather than our home hospital. We were seen promptly and little El was assessed immediately. We stayed from 11pm until we were discharged at 4am. They took the relevant samples, gave El some paracetamol for her temperature and kept us until she improved significantly. All in all I was very satisfied with her treatment from some extremely kind and proffessional staff. Thank you.
What could be improved
At our home hospital we are givena free 24hour returns service. Once seen in paeds you are given a number to call and if your child becomes more unwell again in the 24hours following discharge you can return immediately and see the Drs / nurses. Very reassuring. Something like that would have been nice - as it was we didn't need it but it certainly makes you feel secure knowing you can go back if they get pporly again.
We were told we'd get called in a few days with El's results but it took a week and a half to get that ring back to check she was ok and to ask us to make a follow up appointment for more tests with our own GP. Obviously we'd have sought further help if she'd still been very sick but it wasn't very prompt follow-up. We did try our own GP but they said we needed to contact the hospital directly and we weren't given numbers to do so. If I had been majorly concerned I could have found the numbers I guess but I didn't know she'd need more tests and she was better so I didn't.
Anything else?
Overall an excellent service from some very kind people. I'd have no worries about taking our daughter back there again if she was ill. Thank you all for your help at a very scary time!
