What could be improved
On attending St James Hospital I was unaware of the location of the Emergency Department as the signs all located Accident and Emergency. I was under the impression that this was an outdated term and was confused. Finally at the reception some of the signs changed to Emergency Department and the receptionist after booking me in told me to sit on the chairs in the ED waiting room. The staffs were very busy but remained professional at all times. The Department itself was very clean. The only criticism I have about this hospital is to change all signs to Emergency Department and not have a few scattered around as it is confusing to attending patients, and is unclear what the department is designed for. One other small criticism is that all staff need to maintain the same abbreviations an example of this was the doctors abbreviations was ED that I understood from Scotland but the Nurse's referred to is as A&E for future patients it would be nice to have the same abbreviations of ED.
