"keyhole micro discectomy"

About: Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre

(as the patient),

i was having severe back and leg pain, so bad that i was having sciatic pain down both legs, i was eventually refered to doctor kamat, i was given an appointment at a hospital near chester, quite a small hospital but exceptionally clean and friendly, i had my op in the afternoon, awoke in a lot of pain but was able to go home the next day but spent the next 4 weeks regretting the op, fortunately after 4 weeks i realised that i had no sciatic pain at all and now i am still slowly getting better and i really appreciate having the op

Dear " kc88 " ,

I wish to thank you on behalf of my team at the One Health Group in Sheffield and Barlborough hospital for taking the time to leave your kind and valued comments.

I will pass on this extremely motivating feedback to the relevant teams involved.

Sometimes it takes some time for the pain to go away; especially if the pain level pre-operatively is very high ( eg. 10/10 on the VAS which is the maximum pain) and also each person`s pain threshold and pathology can be different. Also, some patients need a more extensive operation to achieve the same pain relief and that can mean that the swelling from the operation takes a bit longer to subside.

I am happy that you have had a successful outcome and that you are happy with the results that we as a team have achieved for you.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Abhinay Kamat
