It had been discovered that I was not emptying my bladder. During the consultation I was told that I should learn to self catheterise!!! Somewhat of a shock, but a lovely nurse instructed me in the art and I went home with instructions and equipment.

I found it impossible and found myself becoming low and depressed. I spent hours struggling. I phoned the hospital and was told to persevere and not to panic.

I persevered and things got worse. Fortunately a lovely lady phoned from the continence service. I told her all about my difficulties and she understood totally! What a relief!!! She arranged for a lady to visit me at home and help me.

Liz Beckett arrived the next day and the whole senario changed. She listened, understood and with great patience showed me how - I haven't looked back!!

We very much appreciate patient feedback and are pleased to learn that our nursing staff when you attended hospital were able to help you and that the difficulties you experienced when you went home have also been overcome with the care and support of Liz and our staff from the Continence Service, and that you are now able to move forward.
