"University Hospital of Wales, A&E"

About: University Hospital Of Wales

(as the patient),

I was taken into hospital around 1.30am by ambulance, in a lot of pain. 15 hours waiting time even though it wasn't busy. I was very cold and uncomfortable but was told there were no blankets or pillows. My son and daughter stayed with me, having to sit on a cold floor with their backs against a wall. It felt like I was in a third world clinic!

After being transferred to a ward - which was marvellous, I was told the bed was needed and was sent to Short Stay Surgical unit. Two hours later I was then told I was being moved to a Paediatric ward as my bed was needed. Other people were arriving there throughout the night - they had been moved off wards as well.

After being told I had to stay in the weekend for a CT scan on the Monday and being 'nil by mouth' all day Sunday and Monday, I asked why I hadn't gone down and was told my name wasn't on the list!

I was in a great deal of pain and don't expect this treatment when I'm ill.

It appears to me that there are too many people at the top receiving very high wages and who I feel are not doing their jobs well, whilst the nurses have to contend with the mayhem that ensues. In my opinion money needs to be directed to help the people who pay their contributions.
