About: Ipswich Hospital

What I liked

There was nothing to praise the whole stay was disgusting and a real eye opener. From a 12 hour wait in a & e we thought things could only get better but instead they got worse and worse.

What could be improved

The whole organisation of staff and lack of symphophy. Alot of people standing around chatting when patients are waiting 12 hours long to see 1 doctor??? Because the staff are under paid and over worked it does not give them the right to treat patients with attitude when they are there for there care. We had a 12 hour wait in a & e there was no organisation or communication between staff, we were left in a 4ft bed and after complaining 3 times that my partner didnt even fit in the bed they eventually removed the foot plate! we were left in a make shift assesment unit which was over crowded and smelt from the corridoor. I witnessed an old man drop his tablet on the floor and the nurse administrating meds picked it back up off the floor and put it back into the mans hand and he took it. It was disgusting they cleaned the rooms with 1 cloth thats the windowsill to the sink with the same cloth and they worry about mrsa!!!!!

Anything else?

My partner was treated like an animal not 1 of the staff treated him as a person and had any time for him as a patient the quality of care was non exsisitant. We were in hospital for days and were on wards moved everyday even while sleeping, didnt see the same doctor twice and then they wonder why we dont even believe what they are saying every doctor said something different we were diagnosed 5 different things and then discharged without even knowing what is wrong.

We are so very sorry to hear this report and we are keen in investigate these concerns. Please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01473 704781 with your details so we can look into these matters straight away.

It is very disappointing to hear such reports on the care received, which falls well below the high expectations we strive for, and usually achieve. These comments have been shared with the departments mentioned and we hope we are able to discuss this with you directly to ensure we can learn from your experience.
